FAQ

Questions clients ask before counsel begins

Answers below are general guidance only and do not constitute legal advice for your specific situation. Contact us for counsel tailored to your matter.

  • Does LawPoint operate a loyalty-points programme, GPS tracking, agency referral scheme, or outcome guarantees?

No. LawPoint Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore law practice providing professional legal services. We do not operate any loyalty-points programme, consumer rewards scheme, or GPS-based tracking of clients or visitors. We are not a referral agency and we do not guarantee specific legal outcomes—results depend on the facts, evidence, and applicable law in each matter.

If you encounter third-party websites or messages claiming to offer LawPoint loyalty points, location tracking, or guaranteed wins in litigation, those communications are not authorised by us. Please report suspicious activity to [email protected] so we can investigate.

  • How does the counsel salon model differ from a traditional firm?

In a counsel salon, you work directly with experienced practitioners from the first conversation. We avoid unnecessary hierarchy, prefer concise written advice, and include reasonable follow-up on implementation questions. Our physical salon at Marina One is designed for collaborative sessions rather than formal boardroom posturing.

  • What types of clients do you serve?

We serve Singapore-incorporated companies, foreign entities establishing a local presence, founders, family offices, and in-house legal teams needing overflow support. Our sweet spot is growth-stage businesses navigating transactions, regulatory licensing, employment changes, and commercial disputes.

  • How are fees structured?

We offer fixed-fee scopes for defined projects, hourly rates for exploratory matters, and monthly retainers for ongoing counsel relationships. After an initial scoping call, we provide a written fee estimate before work begins. Disbursements such as filing fees are billed at cost with prior approval.

  • Do you handle litigation?

Our focus is advisory work, transactions, and dispute avoidance. When litigation or arbitration is appropriate, we coordinate with specialist advocates while maintaining strategic oversight and client communication. We discuss forum selection, budget, and timeline before any court proceedings commence.

  • Can you advise on matters outside Singapore?

Our practitioners are qualified to advise on Singapore law. For foreign law questions, we work with trusted correspondent firms in ASEAN and beyond. Cross-border transactions typically involve us drafting Singapore-law documents and coordinating parallel advice in other jurisdictions.

  • How quickly will you respond to an enquiry?

We aim to acknowledge new enquiries within one business day during office hours (Monday to Friday, 09:30–18:30 SGT). Urgent regulatory deadlines for existing clients should be flagged in the subject line or by telephone.

  • Is my enquiry confidential?

Information you submit through our contact form is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. A solicitor–client relationship—and full legal privilege—arises only after we confirm engagement in writing and perform conflict checks.

  • Do you offer video consultations?

Yes. Regional clients and busy executives often prefer secure video sessions. We use encrypted platforms and can accommodate early-morning or late-afternoon slots within our office hours by arrangement.
